This type of mask with characteristic geometrical forms is used in ritual funerary Dogon country, to guide the dead towards the world of the ancestors.
It is not rare that at the time of the ceremony (dama) which takes place approximately every 5 years, they are several hundreds of this type of masks which are shown.
