Très beau masque ancien polychrome. Contrairement aux autres masques de cette ethnie, celui-ci est plus "brut", plus minimaliste, moins "séduisant", ce qui fait tout son attrait, toute sa rareté.

L'ensemble des pièces composant ce masque laisserait à penser qu'il s'agit d'un composite de matériaux existants, et non une taille monoxyle comme généralement.

Restes de peinture jaune et rouge. Incrustation de graines d'abruzze.

Bois dur, restauration locale des deux cornes du masque.

Attention : pas de socle

Symboliquement, les cornes se rejoignent formant ainsi un cercle, et marquant l'accomplissement d'un cycle renouvellé.

Les cornes sont symbole de fertilité dans l'ethnie Mama, celle-ci peut être associée indifféremment à la fertilité de la terre ou celle des femmes et épouses.

Ce type de masque est généralement employé par une groupe d'hommes, au sein du village Mama, qui ont comme charge sociale, le développement du village ou de la production agricole de celui-ci.

Ce sont donc les gardiens de la prospérité du village. Les cérémonies au cours desquelles sont employé ce type de masque se nomment Mangam.

Horns are symbol of fertility in the ethnic group Mama, this one can be associated indifferently to the fertility of the earthor that of the women and wives.

This type of mask is generally usedby one group of people, within the village Mama, who have as social responsibility, the development of the village or the agricultural production of this one.

They are so the guards of the prosperity of the village. The ceremonies during which are used this type of mask are called Mangam.

Alte sehr schöne vielfarbige Maske. Im Gegensatz zu den anderen Masken dieser Sprachgemeinschaft, ist dieser "mehr unbearbeitet", mehr minimalistisch, "weniger verführerisch", was ihre ganze Anziehung, ihre ganze Seltenheit macht.

Die Gesamtheit der Stücke, die diese Maske zusammenstellt, ließe, denken, daß es sich um ein Zusammengesetztes bestehenderBaustoffe handelt, und nicht eine Größe monoxyle wie im allgemeinen.

Harter Holz, örtliche Restauration der beiden Hörner der Maske.

Symbolisch treffen sich die Hörner, so einen Kreis bildend, und die Erfüllung eines renouvellé Zyklus kennzeichnend.

Die Hörner sind Fruchtbarkeitssymbol in der Sprachgemeinschaft Mama, diese kann unterschiedslos an der Fruchtbarkeit des Landes oder diejenige von Frauen und Gattinnen vereinigt sein.

Dieser Typ von Maske ist von ein Herrengruppe, innerhalb des Dorfes Mama im allgemeinen verwendet, die wie soziale Aufgabe, die Entwicklung des Dorfes oder der landwirtschaftlichen Produktion von diesem haben.

Das sind also die Wachen des Gedeihens des Dorfes. Die Zeremonien im Laufe deren sind dieser Typ von Maske verwendet, Mangam nennt.
