An entire generation runs the risk of being swept away by the “silent tsunami” which, according to the Red Cross, the AIDS pandemic presents for African children.
In addition to the children infected by this virus, there are millions of orphans living in more than precarious conditions, often in gangs on the streets, exposed to the violence of adults.
There are initiatives which provide them with housing, education and formation…
However, they are facing more and more difficulties affronting this misery, mainly due to the lack of resources.
In the urban centre of Lomé (Togo) alone, there is a shortage of housing for nearly 700 of these children.
The association “Espoir Vie Togo” (Hope for Life in Togo) makes an emergency call, an appeal to your generosity in order to find financial as well as material capital which would allow them to save as many children as possible.
Some of these children are sick, others healthy, but all of them have the right to live, to study, and to play.
It is important for them to know that they are supported.
Helping these children means also helping their families, their communities.

This project was originated by a woman with a lot of initiative and a heart of gold:
Christine BURGART, who has known Togo for more than 30 years.
Her commitment started in 1999, when she was working for “AIDES” (a French nationwide association which fights against AIDS and HIV) and, due to a kind of partnership, also for “Espoir Vie Togo”.
In July 2007, her success became obvious with the creation of “Espoir Vie Togo France” (the French branch of “Espoir Vie Togo”), of which she is the president.

Organising donation and sponsorship campaigns for:
- People suffering from HIV or AIDS,
- their families,
- children who became orphans due to AIDS,
- as well as all initiatives capable of helping to realise the goals of the association.

Finding about 40 sponsors (academic sponsorship of 20 euros/month or sponsorship of an apprenticeship of 25 euros/month).
Taking on responsibility for about 40 children with regard to their schooling, health care and education: 27 euros/child.

Buying or participating in the purchase of a house as a home for the children of “Espoir Vie Togo”, for 680 of whom there is no space within the structure we are currently able to provide.

Although our requirements are, above all, of financial nature, the association is also seeking:
- bicycles (Lomé is quite big and bicycles would save the children a lot of travel costs)
- hairdresser’s equipment for the girls who finish their apprenticeships.
All this will not be possible without you.
Thank you very much for your help.

For a long time already, the gallery has been wishing to participate in a programme of local aid which is:
- directed towards children,
- primarily self-financed through donations,
- capable of allocating virtually 100% of the donations towards the everyday work of the project,
- while also providing information on the development of the project on a regular basis.
This dream has come true in November 2007 with the association “Espoir Vie Togo France”.

For every order of which the net price exceeds an amount of 100 euros without the cost of postage, the gallery will donate 5 euros to the association.
In addition, during the process of placing your order, you are given the possibility of adding a donation to your bill.
This amount will go in its entirety to the association “Espoir Vie Togo France” and a tax voucher will be sent to you within 3 months…
In addition to this campaign, the gallery offers the association:
- the creation of its website and management of its content,
- its accommodation & annual maintenance.
Thanks to this medium and the dedication of two volunteers who are responsible for the content of the website, we will regularly publish news and photos of the fundraising campaigns and the developments on the ground.
Thus, we will keep a link to all our generous donors, which was a great wish of ours.

In France, every donation gives you the right to deduct 75% of the amount you donated from your taxes, but not more than 488 euros.
If your donation amounts to more than 488 euros, the tax cut for the rest of your donation will only be 66% and it may not exceed 20% of your gross income.
Should your donation exceed this limit, you will have the opportunity to postpone the declaration of this surplus and benefit from tax cuts under the same conditions as mentioned above, if you declare it within 5 years.

Example 1:
You have made a donation of 40 euros and will therefore benefit from a tax cut of 75% of the amount you donated. This means you can thus reduce the taxes you pay by 30 euros. Your donation of 40 euros has cost you in reality only 10 euros due to the tax cut.
Example 2:
You have made a donation of 2,000 euros:
Therefore, you will benefit from a tax cut of 75% for 488 euros.
In addition, you will benefit from a tax cut of 66% for 1,512 euros (2,000 – 488 euros).
This equals a tax cut of (488 x 75/100) + (1,512 x 66/100) = 1,363.92 euros.
In order to be able to deduct this amount from the taxes you have to pay, it must constitute less than 20% of your gross income.
In the case that this amount exceeds 20% of your gross income:
If your gross income is, for example, 6,000 euros, this means that a tax cut of 1,363.92 euros would exceed 20% of your gross income (6,000 x 20% = 1,200 euros).
Therefore, in the first year:
you would be able to deduct up to 1,200 euros from the taxes you have to pay.
In the second year:
you would then have the possibility to deduct from your taxes the rest, which exceeded the 1,200 euros the year before (163.92 euros).
Important: If you are not living in France, please check with the tax authorities of your country of residence.
