Coming from a private collection, collected around 1930/50.
The small ivory figurines Lega are called Maginga or Iginga. They are used during rites of the secret society Bwami.
Only the highest initiated of this group possessed these statuettes.
To Lega these objects are sacred and cannot be seen and used outside the initiatory context of Bwami.
