The tchitcheri can be worked only by the individuals whose
fathers are soothsayers. To work the tchitcheri is regarded as a
delicate and very dangerous operation. For this reason, only the
soothsayers give to their sons special protection required for the
creation of such statues. Those which transgress this law are supposed
to risk blindness or the madness.
