Mouse oracles were used by Baule diviners to foretell and influence the future. Food and a careful arrangement of sticks were placed inside and covered.
Overnight a mouse would enter through a hole in the base to get the food, disturbing the sticks.
The diviner would return and "read" the interpretation of the rearranged sticks.
