The art of the bronze in Benin was always associated to the royal courts.
Most of the bronze or brass objects were put on
altars of royal ancestors either were carried during official ceremonies.
Heads bronzes represent generally Obas (kings), but
it would seem that they can also represent prisoners.
We present you there a beautiful head, hollow, with a hole on the back
top of the head.
Holes appearing in border of the headgear is around lips were intended
to fix hairpieces.
One finds all the characteristic sweetness of the faces
of the ethnic group Bini. Eyes in almonds, feline glance, pomettes striking.
Beautiful detail, in very good state.
