::: Ritual iron - Dogon - Mali - African
tribes:::
The art of the ironworks is localized enough in Africa. Only the ethnic
group Dogon, Bambara, Kuba and Senoufo seem to have practised it.
The Dogon or Bambara ironworks is generally constituted
with a single part of metal warmed to white, cut, aplate, to
whom one is going to give a shape. Of this fact forms and expressions
are often reduced to their more simple expression.
One finds notably among this production of black iron art, "ritual
irons" which are thrown on the height of sanctuaries or
put on altars.
