The panther is a royal symbol of the kingdom of Abomey (or
Danhomè in Fon language).
According to the legend, the dynasties of the kingdoms
of the south of
the Republic of Benign are originating in Tado, city of current
Togo and were born from a mythical couple: the princess
Aligbonon de Tado and a panther.
